Calculator results are estimates based on the federal formulas and HUD-published data that your local housing authority or SNAP office also uses. However, actual eligibility for Section 8 / Housing Choice Vouchers and SNAP benefits is determined solely by the relevant government agency — your local Public Housing Authority for Section 8, and your state's SNAP agency for food benefits.

Applying for Section 8 or SNAP through CheckMyVoucher is not possible. You must apply directly through your local PHA or state SNAP office.
Fair Market Rent figures and income limit data used in our calculator come from HUD's public API at huduser.gov. This data is updated annually. Our use of HUD's data does not constitute endorsement by HUD of this site or its results. HUD's official data and tools are available at hud.gov.
We strive to keep all information on this Site current and accurate. However, federal and state programs change frequently. We make no representations or warranties, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or suitability of any information on the Site.
Your actual benefit amount may differ from our estimate based on factors including but not limited to: local payment standard adjustments, utility allowances specific to your unit, individual deductions, PHAs' discretionary policies, state-level SNAP supplemental programs, and recent regulatory changes not yet reflected on this site.
