Short version: We collect only what is necessary to run the calculator. We do not sell your data. You can delete your email from our list at any time.

CheckMyVoucher ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at checkmyvoucher.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

Calculator inputs. When you use the Section 8 or SNAP calculator, you enter household information such as household size, number of bedrooms, ZIP code, and gross monthly income. This data is processed entirely in your browser or transmitted to our server only to query HUD's public API for Fair Market Rent data. We do not permanently store your calculator inputs in any database linked to you personally.

Email address. If you voluntarily subscribe to alerts or updates, we collect your email address. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us at hello@checkmyvoucher.com.

Usage data. Like all web servers, ours automatically logs IP addresses, browser type, referring pages, and pages visited. These logs are used for security and operational purposes and are not linked to individual identities.

Cookies. We use a small number of cookies and similar tracking technologies, described in the Analytics section below.

2. Analytics and Tracking

We use the following third-party analytics services:

Plausible Analytics — A privacy-friendly analytics tool that counts page views and referral sources without setting cookies or collecting personal data. No cross-site tracking. Plausible privacy policy.
Microsoft Clarity — Records anonymized session replays (mouse movements, clicks, scroll depth) to help us improve the user experience. Microsoft Clarity does not collect names, email addresses, or payment information. Microsoft privacy statement.
PostHog — Used for product analytics and A/B testing to understand which features are most helpful. Data is pseudonymized and not linked to personal identities. PostHog privacy policy.

You can opt out of analytics tracking by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser, or by using a browser extension such as uBlock Origin.

3. How We Use Your Information

To operate and improve the calculator and related tools.
To respond to your questions or support requests.
To send you policy updates or benefit news you have subscribed to.
To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or security incidents.

4. We Do Not Sell Your Data

CheckMyVoucher does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We do not share your data with advertisers for targeting purposes. Our analytics tools receive only aggregated or pseudonymized data as described above.

5. Affiliate Links

Some links on CheckMyVoucher are affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and complete a purchase or application, we may receive a commission. Clicking these links does not cost you anything extra. We identify affiliated content where required by law.

6. Data Retention

Calculator data — never stored server-side; discarded immediately after the API call.
Email subscriptions — retained until you unsubscribe.
Server logs — retained for up to 90 days for security purposes, then deleted.
Analytics data — retained per each provider's own policies (see links above).

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@checkmyvoucher.com. We will respond within 30 days.

California residents: this site does not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA. We do not have actual knowledge of selling personal information of consumers under age 16.

8. Children's Privacy

CheckMyVoucher is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us at hello@checkmyvoucher.com and we will promptly delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
